The story of the Exodus is a story of God’s redemptive work. The people of God were enslaved in Egypt for 400 years, they suffered from bondage, torture, and oppression. The people cried out to God for deliverance and freedom. God’s faithfulness to his promise began to be realized when he raised up Moses to be his instrument of redemption. The people of God were brought out of slavery by God’s mighty hand and were given a new identity and a new mission. They were now God’s people, set apart for his works, and they were to be a light to the nations. However, due to sin and rebellion, the Israelites continued to fall back into slavery and bondage. We see throughout the Old Testament witness that the people of God were calling out asking Him to do it again, to bring about a second exodus.

The gospel is the GOOD NEWS that Jesus has indeed brought about a second exodus for his people. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus has freed us from the bondage of our sin. He has now, likewise, given us a new identity and has called us to a new mission.  Therefore, the vision of Exodus Church is to be a redeemed people, who seek to live out the mission of God with the purpose of seeing the kingdom of God restored. We do this by being a gospel-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-empowered church who submits to the authority of Scripture. We seek to be a light to our community and to the nations by planting like-minded churches throughout the city of Wichita and the world.

The story of the Exodus is a story about redemption—about God’s power to free his people from bondage. Exodus Church exists to see people transformed through the redeeming power of the gospel. The Bible says that before redemption we are enslaved to sin (Romans 6:6), through the power of the gospel Jesus has broken the chains of bondage and has granted us true freedom. (Ephesians 1:7; Exodus 15:13)

The mission of Exodus church is to participate in the mission of God. The mission of God is to see men and women from every corner of the earth become worshipers of the one true King. Therefore, the mission of Exodus Church is to see our people, and the people in our region, worship God in every area of life. (Revelation 7:9-12; Colossians 1:20)

When showing his disciples how to pray, Jesus prays, “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Exodus Church is dedicated to seeing the kingdom of God restored on earth as it is in heaven. We want to see the kingship of Christ reigning in our families, in our relationships, in our schools, at jobs and in our communities. The kingdom of God is being restored as we speak, and it is our calling to see the gospel bring redemption and worship to every corner of the earth. (Matthew 6:9-13; Revelation 12:10)
