Song: “Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery”

 Song: “Come As You Are”

III. Confession

Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:

Lord, in our affliction we doubt your goodness, we question your grace and lose sight of your faithfulness. In our troubles, we are in need of your love yet seek the comfort of another. The burdens of grief are more than we can bear, and the weight of our pain pulls us to the ground. The curse of sin is felt in our bones; it separates us from the goodness of your creation and leaves us longing for the healing found in your wings. Like a man lost in the desert, we long for the waters of your grace, the waters that restore the sin-sick soul. Lord, we come to you in need of your grace, in need of your healing, for we are lost without you.

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. Assurance of Pardon

Corporate Call:

Church, your prayers for forgiveness have not failed, for they have ascended to the right hand of the Father where our Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf. Though the curse of sin has caused you pain, suffering, and sickness, though the weight of sin is crushing, we serve a God who has not distanced himself from the effects of the curse. For when Christ put on flesh, the sun of righteousness rose and the darkness fled. For Christ has come with healing in his wings and redemption in his blood. For the gospel declares that Jesus has conquered the curse of sin upon the cross, He has reversed its power by rising from the dead; and this is our hope, that our sin-laden bodies are not defeated in death, but will be raised in glory. And in this resurrection, every weight of sin will be removed, every tear will be wiped away, and death will be no more. Church, this is your hope and this is your future because Christ has taken your sin upon himself and nailed it to the cross! Now, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

Response:  Praise be to God!

Song: “I Will Not Fear”
