I. Opening Song

Song: “His Mercy Is More”

II. Call To Worship

Reading: Psalm 139:1-12

Call: This is the Word of the Lord.

Response: Praise be to God

Song: “All Praise to Him”

 Song: “Be Thou My Vision”

III. Confession

Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:

Lord, we come before you now confessing our sins and anticipating your faithful forgiveness. By the power of your sovereign hand, you have created us to be light, to shine in the darkness, and to reflect your glory within the world you have made. Yet, the temptation to dwell in the night is so strong, and the shadows know our names. They call out to us, and we respond. We have willingly walked into the murky dens of depravity where we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. We have concealed wickedness within our hearts, even the thought of our secrets being exposed causes us to tremble. Lord, you are a merciful God; you are one full of grace. Have mercy on us and flood the light of your holiness and grace into the dark chambers of our hearts, and in your kindness destroy the darkness that lies within that we might walk again in the light of your glory. So we come to you know, clinging to the faithfulness of Christ, confessing our sins.

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. Assurance of Pardon

Corporate Call:

Church, your prayers for forgiveness have not failed, for they have ascended to the right hand of the Father where our Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.  Though the darkness of our sins feels thick, know this to be true; no shadow can withstand the fierce light of the Father’s forgiveness. For the Light of the world has come, and the darkness of death was unable to restrain the radiance of his resurrection.  Jesus Christ, the one who has fire in his eyes, has looked upon your sinful state and sees you, not as a wicked rebel, but as a beloved child, forgiven, dressed in the glorious righteousness and holiness of the King himself. Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you, your sins are forgiven!

Response:  Praise be to God!

Song: “O Praise the Name”

Now may we respond by faithfully and generously giving of our resources to advance the work of the Gospel and God’s kingdom on earth.

VII. Benediction

Call: Romans 13:11-12

The hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

You are sent!
