Ephesians: The Mystery of God (EASTER)

I. Opening Song

Song: ”Resurrecting”

II. Call To Worship

Reading: Matthew 28:1-6

Call: This is the Word of the Lord.

Response: Praise be to God

Song: Oh Praise The Name (Anastasis)”

III. Confession

Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:

Lord, as the flowers fade and the grass withers they sing the song of your praise. All The shadows of the night have crept into our souls and darkened the affections of our hearts. Rather than being formed by the power of your grace, we have been conformed by the power of the grave. For the aroma of death is still upon our breath, and our hearts beat not as flesh, but stone. Lord, we have failed to worship you for who you are, and we have neglected to bow before the majesty of the King. Instead, we have embraced the night, we have wrapped ourselves in its enslaving embrace and have forgotten the rising of the Son. Oh Lord, our thoughts have been exposed by the light of your holiness, and the radiance of your glory has withered the self-righteousness within. So we come before you now, confessing the evil that has dwelled within our hearts, and seeking your forgiveness by the power of the risen King.

Response: Father, forgive us.

Song: Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)”

IV. Assurance of Pardon

Corporate Call:

Yes, Church, we have dwelled in the darkness of the night, and have been consumed by the valley of the shadow of death. However, the shadow of death and the dark of night was unable to keep you in its grip. For the great and mighty King, Jesus Christ, put on flesh and descended into the abyss of sin and death and waged war upon the grave. And when all seemed lost and the weight of darkness was felt, the Son of Righteousness rose triumphant, defeating death and the dark powers that once held you damned! For in his resurrection the Son of God, the Great King, Jesus Christ, has raised you from the pit of slavery and has seated you upon his throne of righteousness. He has forgiven you your sins, and he has removed sin’s power as far as the east is from the west. Oh, Church, because of the resurrection you have been accepted in the beloved, you have been given a new name, you are a new creation! And no power of hell can bring even a single charge against the people of God! So Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven.

Response:  Praise be to God!

Song: Jesus Paid It All”
