I. Opening Song
Song: ”The Solid Rock”
II. Call To Worship
Reading: 1 Chronicles 29:10-13
Call: This is the Word of the Lord.
Response: Praise be to God
Song: “Great Are You Lord”
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Lord, as the clouds of defeat gather over our heads, and the flood waters of despair rise, and fear grips our hearts, we reach and cling to that which offers no hope. The winds of confusion whip against our convictions leading us to doubt the strength of the Anchor of our souls. Oh Lord, we have listened to the lies of this world, we have lost focus on what is true and right. Like the fool of ancient days, we have called what is good evil and what is evil good. We justify our pride while seeking to assure ourselves we are humble. Rather than running, we have actively embraced the arms of lust. Gossip masquerades as fellowship and laziness has worn the mask of rest. God, we need your help, for chaos has risen within our souls! We have allowed sin to confuse our hearts and disorder our loves. We require your redemption and grace and come before you confessing our sins.
Response: Father, forgive us.
Song: “How Deep The Father’s Love”
IV. Assurance of Pardon
Yes, we have allowed sin to confuse our hearts and disorder our loves, and our souls have been overcome by chaos. But there is good news, for we serve the God who speaks order into chaos. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, has entered into the storm of your iniquity and has commanded the winds and waves to cease! He has absorbed the wrath your anger deserves and has offered you his love. He has entered the darkness of your fear and given you the light of his righteousness. Your grief has been carried on his back, and he has invited you into the truth of his grace. Church, Christ has not abandoned you because of your sins. Instead, he has come to you, taken your sin upon himself, and has offered you full and complete forgiveness. So hear these words this morning, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Praise be to God!
