Ephesians: The Mystery of God

I. Opening Song

Song: ”Doxology (Amen)”

II. Call To Worship

Reading: Psalm 111

Call: This is the Word of the Lord.

Response: Praise be to God

Song: Jesus Is Better”

III. Confession

Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:

Oh Lord, the chains of our guilt weigh heavy upon our backs, the shackles of shame dig into our souls, leading us to despair. Like Babel, we build our prisons with the bricks of bitterness and lust, greed and pride, anger and self-righteousness, and we lack the strength to escape the dungeons of our depraved desires. How can we escape the snares of death that wrap themselves like vines around every selfish thought and evil intention? Oh, what wretched people we are, who will deliver us from these bodies of death? We are in need of a redemption that will set us free. We are in need of forgiveness that will cast our sins into the depths of the sea. Oh Lord, we confess our weakness and brokenness, we confess our rebellious hearts and our evil thoughts before you. We come to you now, by the blood of the Cross, to confess our sins.

Response: Father, forgive us.

Song: Come As You Are”

IV. Assurance of Pardon

Corporate Call:

Church, do not despair because of your sin, do not mourn over your guilt. For the blood of Jesus Christ has saved you. You have been forgiven with a forgiveness so great that he has taken your sins and has thrown them away from you as far as the east is from the west. His forgiveness is so glorious that he has taken your sin and has cast it into the deepest parts of the sea! Oh Church, do not despair because of your sins, for you have been set free from its slavery and authority, by the blood of Christ you have been brought into a new kingdom, with a new King, and he has brought you into his family as an adopted child of the Most High! He has overflowed your cup with grace, a grace so glorious that it is able to transform the vilest of sinners into the men and women who are holy and blameless before God!  Do not despair Church, instead lift up your hearts and hear these words as faithful and true; by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you your sins are forgiven!

Response:  Praise be to God!

Song: There Is A Fountain”
