Ephesians: The Mystery of God

I. Opening Song

Song: ”Doxology (Amen)”

II. Call To Worship

Reading: Psalm 67

Call: This is the Word of the Lord.

Response: Praise be to God

Song: Our Father”

III. Confession

Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:

Lord, how quickly our eyes turn from the blessings you have given in the presence of your majesty to the forbidden fruits that seduce us with false promises of what you alone can provide. Like rebellious children, we wrap ourselves in ignorance and journey into the howling wasteland of worldly pleasures. We dance with lust and wake up enslaved in the dungeon of guilt and shame. We have feasted on the morsels of pride and self-righteousness and what was once so sweet to the taste has turned bitter in our stomachs and has caused our bones to rot. Lord, we have wandered in this desert and have acted like beasts before you, for sin has promised glory yet delivers only shame. So we come before you now confessing our wayward desires and our shameful actions.

Response: Father, forgive us.

Song: How Great Thou Art”

IV. Assurance of Pardon

Corporate Call:

Church, like a dream when one awakes, the guilt and shame of our wickedness dissolve before the grace of God. The gospel is the good news that the King has redeemed you from the wasteland of depravity, where you suffered abused at the hands of a cruel master. In Christ God cleansed you, clothed you, fed you, and has brought you into his home, not as a servant, but as a son. Because of his eternal love which he has poured out on you, God has adopted you into his family, he has brought you near, he has given you all of his blessings, and he has promised you an eternal inheritance. There is no more wandering for the Child of God, for through his grace you have received a new name, a new identity, a new mission, and a new hope. You are set apart and loved, you are forgiven and redeemed, and by his benevolent grace, you now belong to the family of God. Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus, I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

Response:  Praise be to God!

Song: Oh Praise The Name (Anastasis)”
