I. Opening Song
Song: ”Hearth Wont Stop”
II. Call To Worship
Reading: Psalm 145
Call: This is the Word of the Lord.
Response: Praise be to God
Song: “Great Are You Lord”
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Excuses rumble within our chests and flow from our mouths without hesitation. We have become excellent at justifying laziness and excusing passivity while convincing ourselves we are the victims of our own self-made circumstances. Our hearts are deceived, and we confuse cowardice with humility and inaction with piety. For you have given us work to do, you have called us to take dominion of all the earth, to subdue it and bring all things in subjection to you. Yet, our hands are smooth with the guilt of apathy, and our hearts have become calloused toward the work of the gospel. For when we seek to preserve our comfort, we prove our hate for our neighbor; and when we neglect your mission, we demonstrate our rebellious hearts. So we come to you by the blood of Christ confessing our sins.
Response: Father, forgive us.
Song: “What I deserve”
IV. Assurance of Pardon
Though our rebellious hearts lead us toward judgment and shame, we serve a God full of grace and mercy. For his love endures forever and the atoning blood of Christ guarantees his covenant faithfulness. Though we fail to image our Creator with our lives, Jesus Christ is the perfect image of the Father, he is the exact imprint of his nature, and he is the radiance of his glory. And through faith, you have been brought into union with Jesus. In Christ, you have been clothed with the robes of his righteousness, his perfection, and his glory. Church, this is what Christ has done for you; by the power of the gospel and through the ministry of the Spirit, you are being transformed from one degree of glory to another, and you have been given a seat in the heavenly places where you will rule and reign with Christ as his redeemed bride for all eternity. Church hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Praise be to God!
