I. Opening Song
Song: “10,000 Reasons”
II. Call To Worship
Reading: Psalm 34:1-8
Call: This is the Word of the Lord.
Response: Praise be to God
Song: “How Great Is Our God”
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
God, you have created us as worshipers. You have called us to bow down and devote our lives and everything we have to your Kingship. You demand our time, our money, our energy, and our relationships. We confess with our mouths that you are Lord of our lives, but in our hearts, we are rebels plotting ways to usurp your authority. We clutch the sewage of selfishness as if it were the most exquisite treasure. We cloak our indifference to your church by masquerading as busy disciples. You bid us to come and die, to pour ourselves out to advance your kingdom, to love and serve your bride. However, this life of faithful discipleship exposes our cowardice, it reveals our selfishness, and it illuminates our self-worshipping hearts. God, we need your grace. For we are hypocrites, and our faithlessness rots within. We need your sustaining mercy which is why we confess our sins to you.
Response: Father, forgive us.
Song: “I Need Thee"
IV. Assurance of Pardon
The good news of the gospel declares that Jesus has entered into the darkness and the guilt of your depravity, and by the power of the cross and resurrection he has freed you from sin’s shame. He has not left you alone, but he has called you to himself. Jesus has called you to be holy because he is your holiness. The Scriptures call you to pour your life out for the gospel because Christ has promised to fill you back up. He has called you to be faithful because we are saved by his faithfulness. He is your strength, and he is your righteousness, he is your joy and peace. Church, this is good news, Jesus has done everything that needed to be done to bring you to himself Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Praise be to God!
Song: “Before The Throne of God Above”
