I. Opening Song
Song: “How Great Thou Art"
II. Call To Worship
Reading: Psalm 40:1-5
Call: This is the Word of the Lord.
Response: Praise be to God
Song: “I Need Thee"
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Prone to wander, Lord we feel it, prone to leave the God we love. Oh Lord, it is easy for us to sing your praises on Sunday mornings when we are among your people. It is easy to smile and affirm your faithfulness, to affirm your grace and your power to save. Yet when we wake on Monday morning our hearts begin to wander away from the truth. By Tuesday we have forgotten your faithfulness and have placed our hope in the treasures of this world. On Wednesday our affections cling to that which you despise. On Thursday our anger goes unchecked and conviction is only a faint whisper. By Friday we long for rest yet find ourselves embraced by the heavy chains of laziness and excuses. When Saturday arrives we live for ourselves thinking we deserve the very vices you have saved us from. And now, as we come into your presence this morning we realize we have lived as double-minded people, unstable being tossed back and forth by every fleeting impulse. Oh God, our sins are ever before us so we confess to you now and ask for your forgiveness
Response: Father, forgive us.
Song: “Poor And Powerless"
IV. Assurance of Pardon
We are indeed prone to wander, however we serve a King who has left his throne to find and save his people. He entered into the thick darkness of our depravity to rescue us from the evil one. He found us as rebel orphans living in despair and washed us, cleansed us, clothed us in his righteousness, and has given us a place at his table. Though in the world we get tossed back and forth, know this, we have an Anchor for our souls. We are anchored to the great high priest who has atoned for our sins, he has cleansed us from our filth and he has saved us from destruction. Church hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Praise be to God!
Song: “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone"
The Book of James
James 1:1-4 | Pastor Kyle Lammott
As a child of the King, you may eat and drink at the table He has prepared for you. Together we shall celebrate His victory & proclaim His death until He returns to feast with us again. Take heart; He has not forgotten you.
Song: “Come Thou Fount”
