Song: “Be Thou My Vision"
II. Call To Worship
Reading: Psalm 96
Call: This is the Word of the Lord.
Response: Praise be to God
Song: “Is He Worthy"
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Lord, we come before you as broken sinners in need of your mercy. We have rebelled against you this week, with our words we have set whole forests ablaze, with our hands rather than building up we have destroyed, and with our minds, we have thought evil toward others, we have schemed, and we have lusted. Oh God, our shame is ever before us! Like Adam and Eve, we look for fig leaves to hide behind. We make excuses and blame others for our own depravity. We have willingly been lured and enticed by evil desires and have failed to remain steadfast. Lord, we recognize our need for your grace, and we confess our sins before you this morning. By the blood of Christ we seek your mercy.
Response: Father, forgive us.
Song: “Your Mercy"
IV. Assurance of Pardon
Yes, we have tried to hide behind the fig leaves of self-righteousness thinking our sins were covered. However, when we come before the Ancient of Days, his holiness exposes every vain attempt of virtue. Our most righteous acts are seen as filthy rags, and the fig leaves of our self-righteousness are consumed like chaff by the fire of God’s holiness. However, our Father has not left us exposed. He has clothed us with the robes of his righteousness, he has washed us clean with the blood of Son, and he has made us new through the power of the resurrection. The shame of your depravity has been removed, and the guilt of your sin has been atoned. Through the power of Christ, you have been made into a new creation for the old has passed away. So Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Praise be to God!
Song: “Jesus Paid It All"
The Book of James
James 1:12-18 | Pastor Kyle Lammott
As a child of the King, you may eat and drink at the table He has prepared for you. Together we shall celebrate His victory & proclaim His death until He returns to feast with us again. Take heart; He has not forgotten you.
