Song: He Will Hold Me Fast
III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Lord, we confess that we have grievously sinned against you in word, thought, and deed; We have once again fallen short of your glory
Lord, we confess that:
Our prideful hearts have blinded our eyes to your mercy and grace.
Our fear has refused to submit to your sovereign hands
The chaos of our souls has neglected the comfort of your peace
Our love for money has blinded our eyes to your sufficiency and faithfulness.
Our anxieties have starved our souls of the joy of our salvation in Christ.
For this reason we run to your infinite mercy and seek your forgiveness, so in the name of Jesus, oh Lord, hear our cry!
Response: Father, forgive us.
IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
Church, we serve a God who does not forgive in part but in overflowing abundance he lavishes his grace upon you. He delights to wash you clean of your sins, he rejoices to shape you and form you into the glorious image of his son. The cross declares that Father holds no grudges against you, for you are his beloved children. The resurrection declares that Christ has not left you in the darkness of your sins, but has given you new life . For you are his bride, and he calls you to come and bask in his eternal favor and love. For in Christ you are fully loved, fully cherished, fully cleansed, and fully redeemed.
So lift up your hearts and hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Thanks be to God!
Song: Already Won
