II. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 133-134

Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!
Song: Great Are You Lord
Song: Lord I Need You
III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Upon the cross we are confronted with the depth of our depravity; we feel the weight of our wickedness and see the severity of our sin. Lord, we are undone before your holiness, we are unworthy of your grace, and your mercy contains a beauty we do not deserve. For we are a people who have sinned against you; our thoughts run wild and our actions testify against us as we bow before the evil impulses of our hearts. Oh lord, our whole being has rebelled against your righteousness; mind, body, and soul deserve condemnation. So receive us now as we run for refuge to the storehouses of your mercy seeking your forgiveness. So in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, hear our cry!
Response: Father, forgive us.
IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
Though your thoughts, words and deeds testify to your sinful state, you stand not alone in our guilt and shame; instead you stand secure, redeemed by the power of Christ. And if this is true, who can bring any charge against God’s elect? Who can point a finger at the bride of Christ and call her condemned? For the great king, Jesus Christ has taken upon himself your shame, your guilt, and your condemnation. He has received your sin and crucified it upon the cross and buried it in the grave. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, he raised you to a new life where no power in heaven or on earth or under the earth can separate you from the love of God.
And this is good news!
So Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven.
Response: Thanks be to God!
