Liturgy Guide - May 12th
I. OPENING
Song: All Praise To Him
II. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 95:1-6
Call: THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.
Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!
Song: The Solid Rock
Song: Where Were You
III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Father, as Your ambassadors, we confess our failure to uphold Your Holy standard. We've traded the sweet fruit of the Spirit for the bitter wormwood of our own fleshly desires. We've placed the deep desires of our hearts above seeking Your kingdom first. Our words, thoughts and deeds have dishonored Your name by selfishly elevating ourselves. We've raised the flag of self as king over our lives and exalted ourselves above others. We have sinned against You. We have disregarded Your word and placed ourselves under the bondage of sin, exposed by Your law. For these things we confess to You. And now we seek forgiveness and freedom to live and walk faithfully in the fruit of the Spirit for which there is no law.
Now, hear our cry,
Response: Father, forgive us.
IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf. Beloved, you are not ineffective or unfruitful but rather pursue the freedom found in our abundantly gracious Savior. Do not fall into the lie that you lack the marks of faith. You are partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world because of sinful lusts.
Our gracious Heavenly Father has brought you to confession, not allowing you to stay in your sin. In Christ we have a hope that will not be moved, we have a foundation that cannot be shaken, and we have a freedom that will not be taken. For Christ is our Redeemer, he is the victor, he is our high priest, and he is our King! He took your sins upon himself, bore them in his body and nailed them to the cross! By the power of the gospel, you have been given new life in Christ. And in Christ we will press on to greater degrees of glory. And this is good news!
Beloved, lift your hearts and hear these words, that by the great and powerful name of Jesus our redeemer, I declare to you, your sins are forgiven!
Response: Thanks be to God!
Song: All Hail King Jesus/Sanctuary/What a Beautiful Name
V. SERMON
The Ascension
Acts 1:8-11; Daniel 7:13-14
Jamie Stinemetz, Elder
VI. OFFERING
(YOU MAY PLACE YOUR PRAYER REQUESTS IN THE OFFERING BASKET)
Call: Now may we respond by faithfully and generously giving of our resources to advance the work of the Gospel and God’s kingdom on earth.
Song: The Lord Almighty Reigns (Psalm 93)
VII. COMMUNION
As a child of the King, you may eat and drink at the table He has prepared for you. Together we shall celebrate His victory & proclaim His death until He returns to feast with us again. Take heart; He has not forgotten you.
Song: In Tenderness
Song: Doxology
VIII. BENEDICTION
Jude 24-25: Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen
