II. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 75

Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!
Song: “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”
Song: “O Come To The Altar”
III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Most holy and merciful Father, we confess to you, and to one another, that we have sinned and fallen short of your glory. The righteous acts we muster are nothing more than filthy rags in your sight. Lord, our sins are more than we can count, and no matter how much we try to hide them, they are visible to your sight.
We confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. Our hands have become weak, our knees feeble, our hearts anxious, and our minds darkened. Lord, the burdensome chains of sin weigh down upon our shoulders.
For this reason we run to your infinite mercy and seek your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, hear our cry!
Response: Father, forgive us.
IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
The Almighty God, the maker of heaven and earth, the ascended Lord, has achieved all there is to accomplish to fully and completely forgive and restore you who have fallen into sin.
Beloved, do not stay in the chains of your sin but rather press into the freedom of our gracious and merciful God!
In Christ we have a hope that will not be moved, we have a foundation that cannot be shaken, and we have a freedom that will not be taken. For Christ is the Redeemer, he is the victor, he is our high priest and he is our King! He took your sins upon himself, bore them in his body and nailed them to the cross! By the power of the gospel, you have been given new life in Christ. And this is good news!
So hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you, your sins are forgiven!
Response: Thanks be to God!
Song: "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)"
