III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, as we come into your presence as a body, we realize we are a people who have fallen into the snares and traps of sin. Our words have not announced your mercy and grace, but instead, we have spoken with malic and gossip. Our hands have not been at work to the praise of your name, but rather, they have been idle in doing the work you have given us to do. Our thoughts have run away from your holiness, and our hearts have embraced bitterness and strife as an old friend. Lord, in Christ, we are new creations, yet we have again and again wrapped ourselves in the fig leaves of sin to hide from your gaze.

So we come to you now seeking your grace, your mercy, and your forgiveness according to the  precious work of Christ.

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.

Beloved, the grace of God extended to you is more glorious than you can possibly imagine. For God’s grace is his eternal favor upon you in Christ. For in Christ you have been made new, in Christ you have been redeemed, in Christ, you have been justified, and in Christ, you have been reconciled to the Father. Yes Church, you are in Christ, and there is absolutely nothing that can snatch you out of his hand, for you have been bought with the precious blood of the Savior, you have been washed in the waters of baptism, and you have been eternally sealed with his holy spirit. And this being true is the excellent guarantee of your forgiveness.

So Church, lift up your hearts and hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

Response: Thanks be to God!
