III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, your faithfulness is unfathomable, your mercy is unending, and your love is unfailing. And we praise you that this is so, for we come before you once again in need of your grace. Lord, sin has wrapped its cords around our hearts and has led us into the darkness and gloom of bitterness and envy. Our souls have been cradled in the troubles of sin, We have neglected to love others as you have loved us. We have failed to worship you in spirit and truth, and we have traveled the path into faithlessness. Oh Lord, we are in such need of your mercy, for we are lost apart from your steadfast love. Hear our cries, Lord, as we come before in need of your eternal grace. So receive us now as we run for refuge to the storehouses of your mercy seeking your forgiveness through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!

Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.

Brothers and Sisters, In Christ we have been welcomed into the eternal storehouses of God’s mercy. For there we see the atoning work of Jesus Christ washing away the vilest of offenses, cleansing the most depraved of sinners, and clothing the most rebellious of sinners with the robes of righteousness. Yes, Church, Jesus Christ, the unique God-man, took your sins upon himself, bore them in his body and nailed them to the cross! By the power of the gospel, you have been given new life.

Church, this is good news! So now hear these words as faithful and true, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you, your sins are forgiven!
