III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, we confess that we have grievously sinned against you in word, thought, and deed. Not only in outward transgressions, but also in secret thoughts and desires that we are unable to fully understand, but which are all known to you.
Lord, we have forgotten the marvelous wonders that have come from your hand; we have failed to remember your steadfast love and your unrelenting faithfulness. The lies of condemnation haunt our thoughts, guilt and shame weigh upon our shoulders. Rather than standing upon your eternal promises, we have crumbled under the weight of despair and regret. For freedom you have set us free, yet we have lived like slaves to sin. For this reason, we come before your throne in need of a redeemer, so in the name of Jesus, hear our cry

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!

Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
Beloved, though we so often forget the mighty works of God, though we often fail to remember the redeeming power and love of Christ, know this: though you have forgotten his love, his love has not forgotten you. For upon the cross Jesus the Christ, the eternal King, bore your sins; he has freed you from the chains of guilt and shame. For you have been crucified with Christ, you were buried with him, and you were raised with him in eternal victory! Yes, Church, our Redeemer has not forgotten you!
So lift up your hearts and hear these words, The great king who rules and reigns has declared this day, Your sins are forgiven!

Response: Thanks be to God!

Song: "Living Hope"
