Song: “There Is A Fountain (Full Of Love)”

III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, as we come into your presence this morning, we realize that we are men and women who have sinned before you. Our hearts have not worshiped and rejoiced in the salvation of Christ. Bitterness and anger have choked out the joy of our salvation and we have become distracted and overwhelmed by the fleeting pleasures of this world. Rather than offering ourselves as a living sacrifice upon the altar of your praise, we have wandered into the wasteland of selfishness and pride. So lord we come to you know, confessing our sins and seeking your grace and forgiveness by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.

Beloved, the power of God’s forgiveness toward sinners such as us should cause us to rejoice! For in Christ, God has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared your guilt and bore your shame. He has extended his abounding grace to you and has ushered you into the glory of his eternal righteousness. He sings and rejoices over you with unending praise; he has blessed you and calls you his own. His faithfulness to forgive is matched only by the ferocity of his love.

Yes, Church, For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So church, lift up your hearts and hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

Response: Thanks be to God!
