A People for His Possession

I. OPENING
Song: "Death was Arrested"

II. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 145:4-13

Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!

Song: “Build My Life”
Song: “Where Were You”

III. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, hear the prayers of your people this morning. Let your mercy befall us like morning rain upon the meadows. Lord Jesus, we confess that we have sinned against you in word, thought, and deed. You have left no shortage of truth from Scripture concerning Your power, your faithfulness and love, but our ears have grown dull of hearing it. Lord, we feel the weight of our rebellion and ask that you grant sincere repentance that we might live lives worthy of our calling. Lord, we have placed ourselves before others, and have insisted on our own way rather than walking in the Way of Christ. We have preferred error over the Truth, and we have preferred death over Life. You are the truth, the life and the way, so quicken our eyes to see you, our ears to hear you and our hearts to love you. And so, in Christ’s name, hear this prayer from your people according to your mercy:

Response: Father, forgive us.

IV. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, arise and stand with me, for your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where your Great High Priest, the Lord Jesus has now interceded on your behalf.

Church, we are to number our days to gain a heart of wisdom, just as God numbers the stars in the sky and the sands of the seashore. Church, look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able. So shall your years be in the new heaven and new earth. Go to the seashore and number the grains of sand, if you are able. So shall the endless years of your resurrection life be in that place where the Lord your God will be your light forever.

Beloved, God’s love for you is immeasurable. He has left no question as to your forgiveness, and He has left no question as to His favor upon you, because He left nothing unfinished in Christ’s death and resurrection. Your life is hidden with Christ in God this morning, so rejoice with loud singing. Rejoice that God’s love for your burns hotter than the sun and goes deeper than the deepest sea.

And hear these sweet and truthful words and let them be your strength: Church, I declare to you that by the great and powerful name of Jesus, your sins are forgiven!

Response: Thanks be to God!
